PlayStation players can get their hands on the Modern Warfare 2 Oni Operator on day one. For those interested, here’s how you can do so.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will feature a variety of new Operators. For those on PlayStation, an exclusive Oni Operator is up for grabs, so here’s how you can obtain it.

With the reveal of various Modern Warfare 2 details at Call of Duty Next, including the new Perk system, Gunsmith, Warzone 2.0, and the DMZ mode, we also got information on a new Samurai-inspired Operator.

PlayStation retains its deal with Call of Duty despite Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision, meaning exclusive content will continue for the next few years.

One of the PlayStation-exclusive pieces of content for Modern Warfare 2 includes the Hiro “Oni” Watanabe Operator, which was revealed at Call of Duty Next with an impressive trailer ahead of the multiplayer beta.

For those interested in the Oni Operator and how to get it, here’s everything you need to know.

In order to get the PlayStation-exclusive Modern Warfare 2 Oni Operator players must pre-order MWII digitally through the PS Store and then they will get the “Oni Operator Pack” upon launch.

Oni is a “warrior and gun-for-hire who descended from a centuries-old samurai clan,” who fights to clear his “disgraced family name,” while honoring the code of the samurai.

The Call of Duty Oni Operator doesn’t just come with an awesome Japanese-inspired Samurai skin, but it also comes with a “high-level Weapon Blueprint,” and “his equipment,” which could be the two knives he’s seen holding in the trailer.

The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 developers have confirmed that both games will have an improved RICOCHET anti-cheat system.

The Call of Duty developers have confirmed that an “upgraded and improved” version of the RICOCHET anti-cheat system will be available in both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2 at launch.

While there is a ton of excitement for both Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2, players are concerned about how the developers are planning to handle the prominent issue of cheaters ruining matches.

RICOCHET anti-cheat has been combating this problem since it was first added in October 2021, and it’s been confirmed that the system will be better than ever in both of the upcoming games.

Back on June 16, the developers stated that RICOCHET will be active in MW2 and Warzone 2 at launch. At the CoD Next event, they explained that it will have “new features and mitigations to protect the game.”

In an official blog post, the devs assured players that a year of updates from Team RICOCHET has helped create an “upgraded and improved” anti-cheat system to battle cheaters in both titles.

RICOCHET makes use of a kernel-level driver which can detect any software and applications being used by players to hack and cheat. Activision can then ban any accounts that were found cheating.

In a previous progress report, the devs promised players that the RICOCHET anti-cheat system will continue to “get smarter and better as time progresses.” This means we’ll see even more improvements arrive later.

Hopefully, the changes made to RICOCHET will reduce the issue of cheaters and hackers in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. We’ll just have to wait and see how effective it is when both games arrive.

Here’s a look at all of the multiplayer maps we’ll see in Modern Warfare 2, thanks to new information from Infinity Ward.

While we currently don’t know what the entire map pool for Call of Duty’s upcoming game will look like, here’s a peek at every confirmed map in Modern Warfare 2 as well as which maps will appear in the beta.

Following the Call of Duty Next event, players got their first look at the new Gunsmith system, Perk system, and third-person feature coming to Modern Warfare 2. Previously, the devs revealed the Marina Bay Grand Prix map, but players have been eager to get a look at the game’s additional maps.

Luckily, the devs provided a ton of new information about the maps expected to arrive in Modern Warfare 2. We’ll go over every confirmed Modern Warfare 2 map so far as well as the maps you should expect to see in the beta.

Modern Warfare 2 is set to take players around the globe as of October 28. Players can expect their multiplayer experience to include various locations and different landscapes. This year the core multiplayer maps have been designed specifically for 6vs6 gameplay.

This new focus on the 6vs6 design should result in a streamlined experience for players that will lead to intuitive gameplay. So far, five core maps have been confirmed for Modern Warfare 2.

The Museum map is one of the larger core maps and it will allow players to duke it out within a Spanish museum. Museum will be one of four 6vs6 maps that players will get to experience during Modern Warfare 2’s beta period.

This map will feature both indoor and outdoor combat which should keep players on their toes in game modes like Domination and Hardpoint.

Marina Bay Grand Prix was unveiled in-depth on August 7 and players will be able to witness the race track during the beta. The track is inspired by the Singapore Grand Prix Marina Bay Street Circuit.

Mercado Las Almas will take players to a colorful market in Mexico during the Modern Warfare 2 beta. This map is on the smaller side and will deliver compact gameplay with fast-paced gunfights.

The marketplace was once full of customers and lively stall vendors, but it is completely deserted in Modern Warfare 2. Despite its lack of shoppers, the marketplace retains its vibrant and colorful aesthetic.

Breenbergh Hotel is located in the Netherlands well within Amsterdam’s focal point. Much like Museum, Breenbergh Hotel will feature indoor and outdoor areas, but it never manages to feel too restricting.

During the Modern Warfare 2 beta, you’ll get to witness the blend of neo-gothic and art nouveau architecture that the hotel displays on the medium-size map.

While we don’t know the exact location of the Farm 18 training facility map, this one is set to deliver on high-octane action as players battle it out inside of a training facility as the name would suggest.

Farm 18’s location has remained classified, but rest assured, it will appear in the Modern Warfare 2 beta. The map will test players’ sensory skills as the training facility was designed for grueling combat practice.

MP in #ModernWarfare2 features two key styles of play: Battle Maps & Core Maps. Battle Maps are large scale maps, while Core Maps are built exclusively for 6v6. Core Maps will take place in locations around the world. Battle Maps will be POIs from the new Warzone map. pic.twitter.com/cnEeGzaI1O

Aside from core 6vs6 maps, Modern Warfare 2 will also deliver larger maps for modes such as Ground War. These specific large maps will be called battle maps in Modern Warfare 2. These battle maps will share POIs with the new Warzone 2 map that is set to release in 2022.

Sariff Bay will bring players to a fishing village where you’ll be able to explore the surrounding waters and benefit from the brand-new swimming mechanic. Meanwhile, Sa’id was designed for urban combat and it is said to combine elements of core map and battle map gameplay.

When more Modern Warfare 2 maps are announced we’ll be sure to provide the details so be sure to check back in!

Modern Warfare 2 devs revealed more about the new Gunsmith at Call of Duty Next, so here’s how you’ll be building your loadouts.

The Gunsmith returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, allowing players to customize their guns with a variety of attachments to build a loadout that suits their needs. Infinity Ward have revealed more about how the new Gunsmith works, so here’s everything you need to know.

Customizing weapons with attachments has always been a core part of Call of Duty, and Modern Warfare 2019 brought an entirely new system in the form of the Gunsmith. The system evolved with Vanguard’s 10 attachments, and Modern Warfare 2 will be changing it once again.

Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer and Warzone 2 was finally revealed at Call of Duty Next, and Infinity Ward have detailed the new Gunsmith system ahead of the highly anticipated beta.

In some ways, Modern Warfare 2 brings the Gunsmith back to basics by only allowing players to equip five attachments but also adds a whole new layer of complexity with the Platform system.

Modern Warfare 2 will introduce the Gunsmith Platform feature, where weapons will be grouped together to form a family of weapons. Weapons in the same platform will share unlocks, so you’ll be unlocking attachments for different weapons as you progress.

The new Receiver attachment will show up alongside other traditional weapon attachments like Muzzle and Stock. As you use a weapon in-game, you’ll unlock new attachments, and one of these attachment categories will be Receivers.

According to the devs “Changing a weapon’s Receiver completely alters what the weapon is; it’s considered a “new” weapon when building a Loadout, but it still lives within the same Weapons Platform.”

For example, there are five Receivers in the Tempus Armaments’ M4 Weapons Platform: the base M4, the M16, the 556 Icarus LMG, the FTac Racon Battle Rifle, and FSS Hurricane SMG.

Players will unlock two types of attachments when leveling up a weapon in Modern Warfare 2. The first type belongs to the specific Weapons Platform, which includes Receivers, Barrels, Stocks, Rear Grips, and Magazines. These can be used across all Receivers within a Platform.

The devs explain that: “The second are attachments that can be used across all weapons that are able to equip them. These are Optics, Ammunition, Underbarrels and Foregrips, and Muzzles. This allows you to collect an arsenal of attachments that only need to be unlocked once.”

Weapons Platform Specific Attachments – Only usable within a specific Weapons Platform:

Universal Attachments – Can be used across all Weapons Platforms:

This means that players will no longer need to grind to max weapon levels in order to unlock the best optics, suppressors, grips, or ammunition on every gun. Instead, they’ll only have to do it once.

The devs also confirmed that a Firing Range feature will be accessible in Modern Warfare 2.

This new system may sound confusing, but once you get your hands on the Modern Warfare 2 beta, the concept should become more familiar to you.

You can also check out all of the PC system requirements and all of the free rewards up for grabs in the beta.

The Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 developers have confirmed that both games will have an improved RICOCHET anti-cheat system.
