Dr. Andrea Klemes, Chief Medical Officer of MDVIP, explains what's wrong with a "dad bod" and other health issues men are facing, especially during the pandemic.

LIVE LOOK AT KAMALA HARRIS IN RALEIGH. BACK TO YOU. >> THANKS. >>> A LOT HAS CHANGED DURING THE PANDEMIC INCLUDING THE HEALTH HABITS AND BIGGER WAISTLINES ARE THE NEW NORMAL. MORE THAN MEN SAY THAT THEY'RE OKAY WITH HAVING THE DAD BOB IN A NEW SURVEY. THE SAME SURVEY SHOWS THAT MEN ARE UNINFORMED ON THE HEALTH RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH CARRYING THE EXTRA POUNDS. JOINING US TO EXPLAIN MORE IS THE CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER OF MDIP. ALWAYS GREAT TO SEE YOUR. WHAT IS A DAD BOB ? HOW DO THE DAD BOBS HAVE HEALTH ISSUES IN. >> WELL, DAD BOB IS WILL FERRELL VERSES THE ROCK. THE DIFFERENCE OF HAVING A LITTLE BIT OF WEIGHT AROUND THE MIDDLE, BUT EVERYTHING ELSE IS OKAY. IT'S AN ISSUE BECAUSE THE FAT IS AROUND THE MIDDLE, BUT IT'S SURROUNDING THE OR KAMBINS. THAT MAKES YOU AT HIGHER RISK FOR HEART DISEASE AND DIABETES AND CANCERS. >> WHAT ARE THE MOST STRIKING RESULTS OF THAT SURVEY? >> 94% OF MEN FAILED THE MEN'S HEALTH IQ SURVEY. AN INTERESTING THING IS 90% OF MEN DID NOT KNOW THAT HEART DISEASE WAS THE NUMBER ONE CAUSE OF DEATH. 80% OF MEN DID NOT KNOW THAT IT COULD PREVENT CANCER. 75% DID NOT KNOW THAT ERECTILE DISFUNCTION IS AN EARLY SIGN OF HEART DISEASE. WE NEED EARLY EDUCATION. >> WITH THAT IN MIND, HOW DO WE ENCOURAGE MEN TO BE MORE PREVENTIVE? >> YEAH, WE NEED TO SHIFT IT AND HAVE THE MEN THINK OF IT LIKE THE CARS. GO FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND ROTATE THE TIRES. YOU NEED TO GO WHEN YOU'RE HEALTHY. NOT JUST WHEN YOU'RE SICK. THE SURVEY FOUND THAT 40% OF MEN ONLY WENT TO THE DOCTOR IF IT WAS SOMETHING URGENT. THEY NEED -- THEY CANNOT WAIT. IT'S GOING TO GET TOO LATE. THEY REALLY NEED TO HAVE A PHYSICIAN, LIKE, THEY CAN WORK WITH AND FIND THE RISKS AND KEEP THEM HEALTHY. >> HOW DO YOU THINK THAT THE PANDEMIC IMPACTED THE RESULTS OF THE IS SURVEY IF AT ALL? >> WELL, IT DID. WE FIND THAT MENTAL HEALTH IS IMPORTANT WITH THE OVERALL HEALTH, AND THEN 50% OF MEN SAID THAT THEY WERE NEVER SCREENED OR DISCUSSED STRESS, ANXIETY OR DEPRESSION WITH THE PHYSICIAN. THEN THE PANDEMIC, IT INCREASED ALL OF THOSE NUMBERS. >> AND WHEN YOU THINK OF WHERE WE ARE TODAY IN TERMS OF THE HEALTH, PARTICULARLY WHEN IT COMES TO MEN, A LOT OF US TAKE TIME-OUT TO DO ALL SORTS OF OTHER THINGS EXPECT TAKE CARE OF THE HEALTH, AND THE BEST ADVICE AS YOU LEAVE US THIS MORNING. >> I THINK THAT YOU NEED TO PARTNER WITH SOMEONE AND A PHYSICIAN THAT CAN WORK WITH YOU OR YOUR SPOUSE OR PARENT OR SIBLING. THE SURVEY DID SHOW THAT 80% OF SPOUSES HAVE GREAT INFLUENCE ON MEN'S HEALTH, AND SO IF YOU CAN GET SOMEONE ELSE TO HELP YOU, I THINK YOU CAN BE HEALTHIER. >> THANK YOU FOR THE TIME.
