Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard Season 2 is kicking off soon, and fans will be seeing a lot of content added to each game once it begins.

Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard fans have been waiting longer than they expected to for Season 2. Due to a large number of bugs in both games, Activision made the decision to push the Season back so that Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games could focus on stability. With several improvements made in recent weeks, and many more likely to come with the next major update, Season 2 is ready to launch.

When Season 2 begins on February 14, Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty: Vanguard fans will have a lot to look forward to. For the former, some interesting new mechanics are on the way as well as some fresh points of interest for Caldera. For the latter, the long-awaited debut of competitive play is coming for multiplayer fans, while the Zombies community is getting some much-needed content. Overall, Season 2 is packed with big additions, giving all kinds of Call of Duty fans plenty to be excited about.

The most promising content coming in the second season of Call of Duty: Warzone is undoubtedly the new points of interest. Caldera has been criticized for being too empty, so players should be happy to see the map being filled out a bit more. The Chemical Factory is a large, above ground area with several buildings to loot and fight through. As for the Underground Chemical Weapon Research Labs, the areas should add some risk-reward gameplay that is comparable to Verdansk’s bunkers.

Perhaps the most controversial reveal is Call of Duty: Warzone’s Nebula V bullets, which will see downed players emitting poison gas that functions just like the storm. With the goal of the gas being to make reviving more difficult, it will be interesting to see if this Field Upgrade turns out to be an annoying or fun addition. Nebula V bombs will emit gas as well, with the initial explosion doing serious damage. Further, Portable Decontamination Stations will be added that allow players to negate the effects of Nebula V or the storm. While they can be destroyed, and other players will have them marked on their maps once they have been placed, having a way to fight back against the gas is intriguing.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s leaked Bomber planes have also been confirmed, with the slow vehicles allowing three players to sit on miniguns alongside the pilot. The pilot can drop explosive payloads, and these bombs have the unique ability to destroy Loadout Drops. With potential for griefing, it will be interesting to see how this vehicle is used. On the bright side, players will now be able to see plane health when trying to shoot down aerial vehicles. Armored Transport Trucks will provide an AI-controlled vehicle to avoid, and they will call in air support once low on health. When defeated, they will drop rare loot.

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Redeploy Balloon is another new mechanic, and it sees players having an opportunity to zipline to the top of the balloon to parachute to an entirely new part of the map. For players that accidentally land in a bad spot, this option to reposition will prove useful. As for new modes, Caldera Clash will serve as a Team Deathmatch variant, while the beloved Iron Trials mode is coming to Rebirth Island. Rebirth Island fans will also want to keep an eye on the midseason update, as the small map will be reworked into Rebirth Reinforced.

As for Call of Duty: Vanguard multiplayer, fans will be seeing two brand-new maps added to the game. Casablanca will take players to Morocco, and it is a three-lane map with a focus on verticality and numerous buildings to fight through. Gondola is the other new Call of Duty: Vanguard map, and it allows players to ride in the titular modes of transportation. A power plant and caves will also feature, making for a map that should have a varied aesthetic.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s Ranked Play will debut in its beta form at the start of Season 2, and it sounds like everything fans could want from a competitive Call of Duty mode. It will feature Call of Duty League-approved rules, clear skill ratings, and special rewards to chase. Later in the Season, an Arms Race mode is coming, and it will see players riding in tanks, motorcycles, and transport vehicles as they destroy enemy bases.

A Valentine’s Day experience will also be coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard in Season 2, with double XP, themed playlists, and special bundles like a pink teddy bear skin available to purchase. As always, a Battle Pass will be included, which adds a powerful Ball Turret Gunner killstreak and a Sticky Bomb grenade to the mix. Two new perks will also be included, with Armory countering Engineer and Mechanic allowing Field Upgrades to recharge quicker.

As always, new Operators and Weapons will come to Call of Duty: Vanguard in Season 2. Anna Drake will be the Season 2 Battle Pass Operator, and she is an expert at hunting who is focused on revenge. Thomas Bolt and Gustavo Dos Santos will be added in-season, with the former being a gunner and the latter being a masked intelligence operative. As for the new guns, the KG M40 Assault Rifle and Whitley LMG will appear in the Battle Pass, with both weapons aimed at dealing damage. The Ice Axe melee weapon and Armaguerra 43 SMG will be added in-season.

With Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies’ rough start being well documented, fans should be excited to see how much content is coming in Season 2. Perhaps the most requested feature of all is Wonder Weapons, and two will be coming once the Season begins. The iconic Ray Gun will return to the Mystery Box and can be dropped by enemies, while the Decimator Shield is highly protective and offers a special “Decimation Blast.” It will seemingly function like the dragon shield from Gorod Krovi.

Another major addition is Terra Maledicta, a new hub map set within the Dark Aether’s Corrupted Lands. The map will feature new arenas like a desert and the “Hall of Truth,” with a new enemy type called Zaballa The Deceiver also being introduced. This Dark Aether entity is described as one of Kortifex’s “Sisters of Agony,” and she will be able to hover and launch electricity from the ground. Alongside this new enemy, an Ally is coming in the form of Vercanna the Last. Vercanna’s artifact will provide the Healing Aura ability from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. A new Covenant called Artifact Ward will be added to the Altar, and it gives players a chance to trigger their Artifact for free when hit.

Just as important as the new map and Wonder Weapons are the easter eggs coming to Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies. Not only is a main quest finally dropping that will allow players to wield the Decimator and face Zaballa, but side easter eggs are coming to the divisive Zombies mode. The first allows players to dig through the desert map just like they did in Origins from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Lastly, a new objective called Sacrifice will see players stopping Zombies from sacrificing themselves to Syphoncores, with the interesting objective essentially being a reverse soul box. While Call of Duty: Vanguard Zombies will likely never satisfy round-based fans, its objective-based gameplay does seem to be getting improved significantly in Season 2.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Call of Duty: Vanguard is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
